Musings, tea

Tea is served – I’m a guest

Recently I was given the opportunity to write a guest post for the lovely Buckets Of Tea.

I discovered Buckets Of Tea a couple of months back while browsing blogs, you know how it goes, one click leads to another and I find a blog title that really catches my eye. ‘This is someone as obsessed with tea as myself’ I think.

I’d not really made direct contact with a blogger before, other than commenting on posts that I’ve enjoyed and sharing posts of interest on my social media. But this was a sign, I needed to say hi! I introduced myself as a tea fanatic and suggested that I would love to work with her sometime, you don’t get if you don’t ask, was my thinking.

I was so glad I was forthcoming when I got a reply saying she was currently looking for guest writers for a Tea Adventures series! I jumped at the chance to take part, not only is tea drinking my biggest hobby but it would also give me a chance to focus on something different.

I enjoyed the task of being given a brief as such, it focussed my writing in a totally different way. Although I still wanted to put across how disability can affect all areas of my life, this put a different twist on that. Most of my writing so far has been based on events, tales of experiences on particular days in my life. This post was to be something more general, something very everyday (in my case many times a day!), something that people take for granted. Making a cup of tea.

You can read by guest post titled ‘What does tea mean to me?‘ by clicking below.

I am an avid tea drinker. By this I mean I really love drinking tea. It’s the first thing I do every morning. Partly routine I’m sure, but mostly out of comfort and to prepare me for the world……..

I really enjoyed writing this guest post and I hope to get the opportunity to write more (please get in touch if you think I could be your guest!). It’s great to take your writing on a different path sometimes, you never know what thoughts it might lead to!

Maybe once I’m a little more grounded and confident in this blogging lark I could feature some guest posts too!

    1. I’m glad to find another tea fanatic! I’ll have to check out some of your tea poems.
I love tea so much I got a tea advent calendar this year. I’ve started reviewing some of the flavours if you are interested 😊

  1. I love that connecting with this blogger led you to a fun opportunity like this – it’s a great reminder of why we’re all here (connection, outreach, sharing stories). And I love the tea post. I’m a novice tea drinker (I prefer coffee :X), but I share some similar sentiments when it comes to sitting down with a hot cup in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Tea, you can’t go wrong posting about tea 😊

I think reaching out to other bloggers directly is a brilliant direction to go in. Not long ago I started doing that and it’s led to some actual friends and a diversity of blogs that I’d probably not have seen before. Also my author spotlight posts need that personal contact point too. I know when I started blogging I was filled with trepidation about those who seemed to all know each other and were established. Thing is, looking back, that was so wrong. I found bloggers are fantastic people and most will gladly link up, offer advice, comment, support and empathise with anything that directly affects the well being of another blogger.

Keep that tea flowing…although not sure about Earl Grey or that one that tastes of burnt wood 🤔

    1. It can be a scary world with so many successful bloggers that seem to know what they are doing. But I think we all start of in a similar situation with similar anxieties. I agree, I have found some brilliant blogs and bloggers by reaching out, also my joining blogging groups.
How do you take take your tea?

      1. So true; everyone starts somewhere, the only separators are time and drive…and possibly a trending niche 😉

No sugar and semi-skimmed milk…sounds a tad basic said like that !!

  3. I love me a good cuppa tea too (or 20, throughout the day) and I certainly don’t feel I can face the day without the first cup! I’ve always wanted to like coffee as I love the smell, I just hate the taste. Tea all the way. I’m really glad I found your blog so I’ve started following so I can keep reading in future, and I’ve checked out your guest post and the BucketsofTea blog too, so thanks for sharing 🙂

    1. Great to meet another tea addict! I do drink coffee sometimes, but I’m also very fussy when it comes to coffee, or anything really! So I only drink coffee out as I don’t have the fancy gadgets to make a good one! Still I’d happily give up coffee but couldn’t survive without a brew!
Thank you for your kind words.

  4. I’d be interested 🙂 I don’t know how it works. Probably wrote this too soon as I’m writing before I pop over to the other blog.
I love reading your posts and hearing your stories. I’m always interested!

    One moment please …….

      1. So, pouring milk first.
It came from an old habit when people who owned bone China cups and saucers. The China was prone to crack, so they poured in the milk first to save it. The Brits have become accustomed to it as it would make people who didn’t have China, feel ‘posh’.
        So there you go 😉

      2. Thanks 😊. But I’m not posh and am never pouring my milk first! 😂 Although I can see that if you used a pot to brew the tea then the milk pouring in to your china wouldn’t affect the brewing as such. As the tea is already brewed. But with my mug and tea bag the water is always going on first. The milk stops my tea from being released!
Are you a big tea drinker?

      3. Haha I’d just heard it somewhere. My mum actually does it and she brews the tea in a pot – always!
I’m not a massive tea drinker. Sometimes tea on a hangover or I quite like a green tea with salted caramel or mint.
        Otherwise, hot drinks…. I’m more a coffee 😱

      4. I do like the odd coffee. But it has to be proper coffee, and as I don’t have the fancy gadgets at home I mostly order a nice coffee when I’m out.
Your Mum sounds great, taking her tea very seriously! 😃
